Our Work
The Snehalayam e.V. is a registered support association based in Berlin, dedicated to providing aid for a children's and orphanage home for children and older individuals in South India. In November 2009, our association was founded by 13 members, most of whom are still actively involved today. Currently, we have 89 members. As a member, you contribute an annual fee starting from €60, directly supporting the lives of the residents of the children's home. In recent years, additional funds have been raised through various activities such as sports tournaments, concerts, or bazaars. Of course, we also appreciate the many regular and one-time donations that have strengthened us over the years.
Every membership fee and each donation directly reaches the children's and orphanage home in India and is transparently traceable through our annual financial reports.
Our eight active members all work on a voluntary basis. They share various tasks within the association and meet regularly to discuss the current situation in India as well as activities and events organized in Berlin. The children's home is also occasionally visited by individual association members at their own expense. This helps us maintain close contact with the home manager, Leela, and gives us firsthand knowledge of the well-being of the children and older individuals in need. We also learn about projects or repairs on-site that urgently need funding.
